Greece could establish a national scrappage or withdrawal scheme providing subsidies or grants for the replacement of inefficient electric motors. This program would be particularly useful in cases where low IRRs might discourage investments, despite a substantial potential for energy savings.
Portugal and Germany have implemented subsidy programs (PPEC and STEP up!), supporting energy efficiency projects including motor replacement. In Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (Greece) similar programs have been established.
For more information on the subsidy programs in these countries and regions, refer to our policy review report: https://eu-more.eu/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/D2.2-Policy-Review-Report-v.1.4.pdf
